By now many Christmas trees are dying…but ours is still dancing!
11-11-11
Friday, November 11, 2011
It’s true! We caught the clock at this very moment, and celebrated its uniqueness and unimportance with my 96 year old abuelita. For some reason it felt better than New Year’s.
And then we unexpectedly caught it again in the evening as we were driving home…
And when we looked at our iPod, we noticed that song number 1111 was playing… Was does this all mean? And how is DJ Afro involved? Will all of our wishes now come true?
Dia de los Muertos y Vivos…
Wednesday, November 2, 2011
We built this ofrenda all week and now it is finally finished. Last night we stayed up until midnight, waiting for the dead to make their return: Dad, May, abuelos, abuelita, bisabuelos, Linda, Vicky, tio Arturo, and our huge gold fish who Otramama started calling “Petey” (as in Pedro)…until the day he finally died. On their ofrendas we put mole, arroz, frijoles, tortillas, chile, dulces, pan de muerto, tequilla, Jarritos, agua, chocolate… we even left out a menu for Spires just in case Dad or Arturo wanted to order something that we had forgotten. We will always remember you… por vida!
Body 2.0 at Dumbo Arts Festival
Sunday, September 18, 2011
What would be the mundane realities of a fully networked future? What is going to happen when electronic implants become as feasible as pacemakers or breast implants? Body 2.0 is a set of 5 medical cases and 1 conversation that focus on unique features, uncommon banalities and possible absurdities of our near future, where our actions are integrated to the internet, and where new paradigms exist for privacy, social control and human interactions. Beyond optimistic and glossy visions of the future, this video investigates our dependence on technology and our complex evolution with it.
Daniel’s MFA thesis project Body 2.0 will be shown at the Dumbo Arts Festival on September the 25th, at 4pm! AguiLara will be there! If you happen to be in NYC, let’s hang out.
