Anytime Rangers at The Giant’s House

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Anytime Rangers sit on the throne of “The Giant’s House” in Akaroa, New Zealand.

This is the home of artist Josie Martin, who is a friendly and eccentric painter and sculptor. We loved her and her home, which displays paintings, assemblages and various creations in a range of mixed media. The garden is filled with large concrete and mosaic installations plus welded steel sculptures. Anyone who goes to NZ should stop in this little French town and visit Josie and her home.

Blue Mood

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Our tech department figured out how to make ultra-violet vision masks, which work well in intimate settings.

Pan de Muerto

Sunday, November 1, 2009

Today is Dia de los Muertos y Cumpleanos. Even El Pan de Muerto from East LA’s La Mascota Bakery wears skinny jeans to celebrate such a wonderful day!

Vegas Rangers

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

For some reason, the Anytime Rangers fit right in here in Las Vegas.  There is absolutely nothing bizarre about two masked rangers walking around town trying to save the universe… and hoping to become billionaires while they are at it.

Gold Digger

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Even with all the controversy that surrounds artist Todd Goldman, this painting made us laugh.

Dream Machines

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

These photos of maquinitas were taken in Veracruz, Mexico.  We noticed that most children there don’t have iPhones or handheld game consoles, so they have to go to the panaderia or un minisuper to play. Adults try their luck to win a couple of pesos.  Some of the machines play music, like an old jukebox.  All in all, these maquinitas sell fast dreams that end quickly.

Mascara viva

Thursday, August 20, 2009

This mask from Tlapacoyan, Veracruz is alive and ready to envelope anything or anyone in sight. Beware of the powers of La Mascara!

Once masked, Super Alex now has the power to fly.

But even a masked superhero can lose his powers at anytime…

Floating in Skyspace

Friday, July 31, 2009

We are flying forms floating in the air as the spaces around us gradually fill with light.  Are we closer to the sky or is the sky closer to us?  Frozen in the present, we are reconnected to the world around us.  This is our sixth skyspace experience.  This elliptical one at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is not only bright but hot.  James Turrell sums it up nicely: “We are dwellers at the bottom of the ocean of air. We create the color and shape of the sky. It does not exist outside the self.”
