Daniel made this beautiful series of paintings during our last summer in Flagstaff for some of our favorite friends getting married this year. Our friend Hollace (who married Reza) wrote to us in her description of the painting they received, “The painting, a fated love affair between a deer-man and a fish-woman, or is it the other way around?” She understood the idea of evolution, belonging, completion, and polygamy. Who will get married next?

Our friend, a prowrestler named Mr. 2Minutes Till Midnight, spent the day with us in Redondo Beach inside our sand-filled ring to teach us striking and grappling techniques, throws such as the backbreaker, holds like the Boston crab, and how to force an opponent to submit by doing a figure four leg-lock or arm-lock. Since we didn’t have an actual ring to jump from, our next lesson will cover some aerial maneuvers, just like Olimpico does. And of course we still need to work on our dramatic ring entrance, complete with pyrotechnics, strobe lighting, and maybe a zip-line.
If only we had muscles…
